Vasaloppet China 2026
Vasaloppet China Once Again Successfully Completed
Originally founded in Sweden in 1922, Vasaloppet began as a tribute to history, endurance, and winter itself. Over the course of more than a century, it has been held 101 times and earned its reputation as the world’s oldest and longest long-distance cross-country ski race. What started on Scandinavian snow eventually found new paths far beyond Sweden’s forests.
In 2003, that legacy reached China. Nordic Ways introduced Vasaloppet China, carefully carrying the spirit of the original race into a new cultural and geographical setting. Under the leadership of Niclas Hellqvist, the event grew year by year, shaped by international expertise and local commitment.
This year’s completed race stood as a testament to that journey. The organisation was strikingly professional and included a start arena framed by ice and snow sculptures that felt both festive and timeless. More than 2,000 skiers from around 34 countries gathered at the starting line, transforming the event into a moving map of global participation.
Among the participants were representatives from the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in China, including members of our General Management and Board. We were delighted to take part in the event and look forward to continuing to help carry this proud tradition forward.
