Scan Global Logistics: SGL Invests More in China: Adding More All E-Trucks to the Fleet

Shanghai, 8 April 2025: Scan Global Logistics (SGL), a leading global transport and logistics provider, today announced two initiatives in China: the deployment of all-electric trucks across strategic domestic trade routes and the launch of an intelligent Road Freight Operations Center. This marks another big milestone in SGL’s mission to build a "zero-carbon logistics corridor" in Asia’s largest economy, serving as both a declaration of confidence in China’s market potential and a pioneering model for advancing low-carbon transformation through technological innovation.

A Key Enabler of Customers’ ESG Commitments: E-trucks can make a 95% Reduction in CO₂ Emissions

The new electric trucks, equipped with 132kWh battery capacity, boasts a 200-kilometer range per charge. It is projected to achieve an impressive 95% reduction in CO₂ emissions compared to conventional diesel trucks.

In addition to the sustainable e-trucking, the trucks will be centrally managed through SGL Road Freight Operations Center where specialist leverage advanced technologies. The system provides transparency not only tracking the trucks, but also giving exact temperature and humidity. With one click, there is also provided a GRI compliant reductions certificate documents as well as an integrated ESG reporting system, giving overview of emissions and reductions.

By integrating sustainable solutions in all transport mode, including electric mobility solutions, SGL aims to empowering customers to give an overview of where howthey can achieve their ESG goals – and where it can have most effect to start.

*The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is an internationally recognised sustainability reporting framework. The organisation helps organisations to disclose their performance in the environmental, social and governance (ESG) domain by providing standardised indicators and guidelines.

China Commitments: From Cross-Border Innovation to Localized Excellence

Derived from SGL’s commitment to decarbonizing global supply chains, these projects mark a critical step toward reducing CO₂ emissions on China’s busiest trade lanes.

As a pivotal hub in the restructuring of global supply chains, China’s vast market and dynamic innovation ecosystem continue to attract multinational enterprises. This initiative aligns with China’s national strategy outlined in the 14th Five-Year Plan for Modern Logistics Development, which emphasizes building a "green, smart logistics system."

The China initiative builds on SGL’s leadership in Asia’s green logistics sector. The new operations center will serve as a technological nucleus, injecting road freight expertise to SGL’s China network. Since pioneering first-of-its-kind 100% electric cross-border trucking route between Malaysia and Singapore in July 2024, SGL has been recognized with the “Innovator of the Year – ESG” award at the Supply Chain Asia Awards 2024.

"China is not only the world’s largest road freight market but also a frontier for green technology innovation," stated Rickard Ingvarsson, CEO Asia at SGL. "This investment is a strategic move under SGL’s ESG strategy, integrating global expertise with local insights."
