IVL Invited to Participate in UNITAR Webinar: Exploring Food Waste Prevention and a Zero-Waste Future
IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute recently took part in an international webinar hosted by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) in the context of the International Day of Zero Waste, contributing to the global discussion on food waste prevention and sustainable food systems.
During the webinar, which brought together participants from 73 countries, Si Gao, Chief Representative of IVL China, shared practical experience from the EU SWITCH-Asia funded project: Supporting Scheme for MSMEs by Building Sustainable Agricultural Fresh Food Production and Logistics in China (SAFE), which is jointly implemented by IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute, China Chain Store & Franchise Association, and the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Development, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
In her presentation, she highlighted China’s experience in food waste prevention, circular food system development, and multi-stakeholder collaboration. She also introduced how the SAFE project supports more sustainable agricultural production and logistics by replacing disposable packaging with reusable packaging, thus reducing carbon emissions as well as lowering life cycle cost.
We are glad to contribute IVL know-how and project experience to this international exchange, and to support broader dialogue on reducing food waste through practical, collaborative solutions.
IVL受邀参与联合国训研所网络研讨会：共话食品浪费预防与零废弃未来
在国际零废弃日背景下，由联合国训研所举办的线上国际研讨会 “Food Waste Prevention in Practice: Learning, Policy, and Community Solutions” 于 2026年4月2日 顺利举行。活动围绕食物浪费预防、学习与能力建设、政策支持以及社区解决方案等议题展开交流，聚焦如何通过教育引导、行为改变、多方协作和务实行动，推动零废弃理念在食物系统中落地。当前，食物浪费已成为全球可持续发展进程中亟需应对的重要议题。
本次研讨会汇聚了来自国际组织、研究机构及实践一线的多位嘉宾，围绕食物浪费预防的不同维度展开分享。会上，UNITAR化学品和废物管理项目协调员Sofia Schlezak从国际零废弃日的背景出发，对活动进行了开场引导；UNITAR绿色发展与气候变化项目课程开发专家Maya Valcheva围绕“从认知到预防行动”这一主题，介绍了结构化学习和能力建设在推动食物浪费减少中的作用；在案例分享环节，来自中国的IVL瑞典环境科学研究院中国首席代表高思、南非Nosh Food Rescue组织负责人Hanneke Van Linge、以及特立尼达和多巴哥的专家Sian Cuffy-Young分别围绕社区行动、政策协同、供应链合作、公众意识提升及家庭行为改变等方向，交流了各具特色的实践经验与解决方案。
在此次研讨会中，IVL瑞典环境科学研究院中国首席代表高思（Si Gao）受邀作为中国案例分享嘉宾出席。她围绕中国在食物浪费预防、循环食物体系建设及多方协作方面的实践，分享了IVL在中国的相关工作，并重点介绍了欧盟“转型-亚洲”（Switch Asia）农产品流通可持续发展项目（Supporting Scheme for MSMEs by Building Sustainable Agricultural Fresh Food Production and Logistics in China-SAFE）的经验与进展。SAFE项目由 IVL瑞典环境科学研究院与中国连锁经营协会及中国农业科学院农业经济与发展研究所共同推进，聚焦农产品流通环节的可持续发展，致力于通过推广可循环周转包装、优化物流与供应链协同、加强培训和能力建设，减少农产品在运输与流通过程中的损耗与浪费，提升资源利用效率、食物安全保障水平和环境绩效。该项目不仅回应了食物浪费问题在供应链端的现实挑战，也为中国在绿色流通、循环经济和可持续食物系统建设方面提供了具有实践价值的探索路径。
作为长期致力于环境与可持续发展研究、政策支持及国际合作的科研机构，IVL瑞典环境科学研究院 持续关注资源效率、循环经济、可持续消费与绿色供应链等重点议题。此次受邀参与联合国训研所国际研讨会，不仅体现了IVL在食物浪费预防及相关可持续议题上的专业积累，也进一步展现了中国实践在全球零废弃与食物系统转型讨论中的参考价值。
