About this opportunity

The Group Privacy Compliance Office within Group Function (GF) Legal Affairs & Compliance develop and maintain Ericsson’s compliance program. The Group Privacy Compliance Office also support legal and compliance and security teams in the Business Area’s(BA), Market Area’s(MA), GF’s and operational units, which are responsible for supporting and monitoring the execution of the privacy compliance program in all operating units and legal entities within the countries of responsibility.

What you will do

  • Represent the Group Privacy Compliance Office in China, working together with Privacy Advisors/Officers, Legal Counsels, Compliance Officers, Security Managers, Product and Solution Organization, Government and Industry Relations and other stakeholders in providing guidance and support.
  • Be accountable for serving as a subject matter expert on highly complex data and privacy issues, and for translating relevant regulations, and industry privacy standards into policy, guidance, tools, best practices, and metrics.
  • Provide expert support independently to the business operations of the China from various angles including without limitation, People function, Government & Corporate Investigations, legal entities, Sourcing, entity governance, customer support data management, business models, contractual clauses and incident handling.
  • Maintain a documented inventory of applicable laws and regulations for business related activities performed in China in the areas of data, privacy, cybersecurity, information security etc. (as per ISMS requirement) as well as monitor and follow up on relevant or changed legislations.
  • Provide support to the stakeholders when developing templates, standards, working tools, training etc., to establish and maintain awareness on privacy and other related regulations..
  • Provide legal advice on privacy, information and cyber security related matters for cross-functional projects, products and solutions, new business opportunities and other units to ensure that the privacy/cyber strategy and policy requirements across Ericsson have been adequately implemented.
  • Provide advice on topics as data analytics, cloud, IoT, SaaS, and other technologies and recognizing the emerging privacy issues and trends.
  • Documents and implements a MA privacy compliance risk management process.
  • Participate in the enhancement of a privacy breach response and notification program and provide support during actual privacy breaches.
  • Establishes and administers a process for receiving, documenting, tracking, investigating, and taking action on all complaints concerning privacy policies and procedures.
  • Together with Legal Counsel, Privacy Advisor, MA Security and other MA stakeholders support privacy compliance reviews or investigations as well as interactions with authorities or other legal entities.
  • Lead in developing a culture of privacy compliance, setting an example for transparency and promoting an environment where speaking up in a professional manner is encouraged.
  • Provide, as needed, updates to management teams, security organization, compliance organization and other MA stakeholders regarding new and updated legal and regulatory requirements in the areas of privacy, cybersecurity and information security.
  • Establishes strategic goals for the privacy and cyber security compliance programs by gathering pertinent business and compliance information and evaluating outcomes.
  • Together with Customer Project Management, Core 3 and Customer Security Director support commercial projects with contractual reviews focusing on privacy, information security and cybersecurity related risks.

You will bring

  • Minimum 3 years working experience as a business lawyer or compliance officer.
  • Master of Law and specialization in Privacy, Cyber Security and Information Security related law and regulations is an advantage i.e. IT technology, cybersecurity, cryptography, record management etc.
  • Experience with privacy regulations and privacy compliance in China, experience with the Chinese Cybersecurity, data/information security and privacy regulations, as well as knowledge on EU General Data Protection Regulation – with an interest in data and cyber security.
  • Knowledge of data privacy, cyber/information security, personal information protection regulations in China.
  • Good business knowledge/understanding as well as interest in emerging technologies.
  • Ability to independently handle and manage legal matters and prioritize conflicting demands from multiple business clients in an extremely fast-paced environment.
  • Good networking ability and social skills including the ability to handle internal and external contacts.
  • High level of integrity and strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Fluency in English.
