New York, 2018 | Every year Bloomberg compiles a list of the world’s prominent companies when it comes to gender equal environment. This year, just like last year, Swedbank is ranked as one of the top 100 companies world-wide.
The Gender Equality Index is a reference index, meaning no internal ranking is made, that Bloomberg set up in 2016 with the aim of making the market more transparent and comparative when managers and investors share information across market borders.
Swedbank’s internal work on gender equality is based on a policy which states that ”employees regardless of gender, ethnic background, religion or belief, age, sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression or physical disability should have similar access to possibilities and career opportunities”. Following this policy clearly gives results, securing Swedbank a spot in the top 100.
Even though it’s an honour to be in the top 100 Swedbank states in a press release (in Swedish) that they will not stop their development and will continue the fight towards total equality. They believe that a diverse company is an important competitive advantage.
Since 2001, Swedbank has had a representative office in Shanghai. They provide Nordic and Baltic clients with lending and deposit-taking services as well as trade finance, treasury and payment services. The branch also offers local currency business for corporate clients operating in China (see website).
Congratulations to Swedbank!
