Several Swedish Ministers and State Secretaries were bound to visit China throughout the spring of 2017. Most recently in April, the Swedish Minister of Housing & Digital Development Peter Eriksson, met with members of the Chamber at the Embassy of Sweden in Beijing.
During the event, the chamber’s new General Manager Martin Vercouter handed over a Position Paper to the minister. The paper was formed with the contribution from members and their opinion on issues in China related to the Ministers portfolio.
Earlier in February, the Swedish State Secretary of EU Affairs and Trade Oscar Stenström, asked to meet with the local Swedish business community upon his visit to Beijing. During the meeting. He called for the chamber to coordinate feedback from members and promised that “the government should pay more attention on what you are doing here and your knowledge, to bring it back to Stockholm”.
The Swedish Chamber and Embassy, has honored this call and started a closer cooperation around the arriving Swedish Delegations.
“We invite our members to participate in these meetings, through invitations and questionnaires. The Swedish Business Community in China is an important voice………… We call on our members to assist in the development of this new approach and………. We will start posting these Position Papers on our website and work to follow up through………..”
